Keeping Our Community Safe
Our community law enforcement specialists are dedicated to keeping residents and visitors safe. We’re home to revolutionary South Florida safety programs like Broward County’s Neighborhood Support Teams (NST), which focuses on community-oriented safety that connects and fosters positive relationships between the sheriff’s office and community activists, mental health professionals, social workers and more. The Town of Palm Beach is home to an extensive lists of tips for improving self-protection and preventing crimes ranging from residential burglary, identity theft and business crimes. To increase traffic safety, the Miami-Dade County Police Department’s Enhanced Traffic Enforcement Initiative educates the public on traffic laws near the Rickenbacker Causeway. Victims of crime in Monroe County are supported by the Sherriff’s Office, which provides first responder advocates to educate victims on their rights and next steps following a crime.
Staying Safe During Hurricane Season
South Florida’s location on the Gulf of Mexico means that hurricanes will make their way to our shores. Hurricane season is from June 1 to November 30. However, we’re well-prepared to keep our community safe during harsh weather. Working closely with the National Weather Service, the state of Florida created a disaster supply kit checklist here.
